In a changing water industry landscape it's important that we stay in communication and listen to how we can best support you. At this time of the year, we'd like to talk to you about developer charges.
Our charges are published on February 1st each year, coming into effect on the 1st of April. Our charges are governed by OFWAT's charging principles. Our objective is to produce charges that are fair, transparent, and good value for money. Developer services is cost-neutral, meaning the business does not profit from the work we do. Cost reflectivity is more important than ever as we go into the next year, and we understand from your feedback that value for money is a high priority.
Over recent charging years, we've seen cost increases in a number of areas driven by a number of factors. Where possible, we aim to phase in cost increases (such as in our infrastructure charge) to lessen this impact but in order to achieve cost reflectivity this is not always possible. That's why our commitment is to be as transparent as possible, and increase the level of detail in our charges. When we produce a quote, we want customers to be able to clearly see what type of activity they are being charged for and assured that we are there to support them with further information on how the quote is built up.
At this stage, we'd like to open up the discussion and give you the chance to tell us what topics should be covered in our consultation. If you'd like to be involved in our charging consultation, please contact us at connectconsult@nwl.co.uk to receive further information.
Please share this within your organisation to ensure that we are in touch with your teams who are involved with developer services or charging rules. We'd also like to highlight that while the consultation is a good time to get together and discuss charges, we are always available to support you, whether that is with a specific quote or a general query. You can contact us in the way that best suits you, such as via your account manager or by giving our Developer Services team a call.
