Why should I replace my lead pipe?
Exposure to lead can affect all, with those most at risk being young children and pregnant women . As there is no safe level of lead in drinking water, the World Health Organisation (WHO) encourage the removal of plumbing and fittings containing lead.
Why are you offering this for free?
This offer is free to you for a limited time while we look to work with your neighbours in your area*. We want all our customers to be able to access our clean and great tasting water and although household pipes are not under our remit, we believe that by helping to replace these lead pipes, we’ll help our customers to enjoy our water without compromise.
When will the work start?
We’ll be starting the home surveys now. The work will follow shortly after and will depend on the houses who take up this offer. You’ll receive a letter nearer the time to let you know when the work will begin on your street and when the work aims to be completed. If anything changes, you’ll be kept up to date by your site surveyor.
What will be the disruption to my home?
Our technicians will work with you to find the best solution for your pipework, including potential alternative routes to keep disruption to a minimum. While working along your street, there may be an interruption to your water supply. We will keep this to a minimum and warn you beforehand. Your heating will not be affected.
Who is eligible?
Only those within the area who we have identified and selected are eligible.
If you have a business that offers services to children, your business premises is eligible to have its water supply pipe renewed for free if it's made of lead. Find out more about our lead replacement programme.
