Does my home have lead pipes?

How to check if your home has lead pipes

The majority of the houses in your area were built before 1970 and so your water supply pipe is likely to be made of lead. A simple check by our site surveyor will be able to identify this before any work is done.

You might already know that you have a lead pipe. You might be able to see it behind the kitchen cupboards, in a cupboard such as under the stairs, or near the internal stop tap (also known as a stop cock or stop valve). Unpainted lead pipes are dull or dark grey in colour with joints which look swollen.
