Visitors to Kielder lodges and Kielder Caravan Park have access to professional training and tuition for a range of mainstream sporting activities to suit everyone as part of a ‘go active’ break.

The activities have been designed to suit everyone from complete beginners to keen amateurs and are led by professionally trained activity leaders.

Kielder Water is one of our premier fisheries and with its outstanding natural beauty and quality of fish it is easy to see why. It is possible to fish by boat too. Discounted day permits are available for lodge guests.

Kielder Water Birds of Prey Centre
Based at Leaplish Waterside Park, the centre cares for a whole host of birds including owls, falcons and vultures as well as fallow deer and wallabies.
Come here to:
• See a flying demonstration and have a chance to interact with the birds of prey (daily at 1:30pm and 3pm during summer and at 2pm in winter - weather permitting).
• Visit the petting zoo.
• Learn about the conservation and care of the birds.
• Enjoy a school visit.
• Book a hawk walk, falconry day course or hunting day.
• Feed two of the largest flying birds in the world - a pair of great white pelicans.
• Meet Sima, a white tailed sea eagle (the largest in England).

Indoor pool and sauna
Soothe your senses with a sauna or enjoy a swim in the indoor heated swimming pool.
Private hire is also available for groups.

The Boat Inn and restaurant bar
The Boat Inn restaurant and bar is the perfect compliment to your visit due to its waterside setting.
Your dining experience will be accompanied by panoramic views across
the water to the distant shores. There is a full range of hot and cold food served daily.
If you just want to sit back and relax, the bar offers a full range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, speciality coffees and snacks to allow you to enjoy your evening.
Throughout the season there will be a variety of entertainment for all of the family to enjoy!
The 60 seat motor cruiser ′Osprey′ ferry is an ideal way to see Kielder Water in comfort as well as providing an opportunity to learn more about the history of the reservoir and the area. Refreshments and toilets are available onboard. Sailings call at Leaplish Waterside Park, Tower Knowe Visitor Centre and Belvedere (please check timetable for more information).
It is also a great way to add to your Lakeside Way experience. The multi user trail encircles Kielder Water stretching for 27 miles. If you don′t want to walk or cycle the entire route, simply use the ferry for your return journey. We have facilities for bikes, wheelchairs and pushchairs on board (but space is limited).

Kielder Play Garden
Let your children create their own adventures at the Playgarden!
The Playgarden uses a combination of landscape design, sculptural elements, state of the art play equipment and brightly patterned tower structures.
Transforming an area of Leaplish Waterside Park into a miniature landscape suitable for children of all ages to play in.
Mapping is the new challenging and interactive way of playing minigolf.
The 13 hole golf course which has been designed by a local artist, overlaps two maps of the Kielder area – one present and one past.
There is no designated route which allows the players to create their own course, so it can be different every time you play.
Hire a motor boat and take to the water to explore the largest man-made lake in northern Europe. Boat hire is available from reception at Leaplish Waterside Park in July through to August, times may be subject to change and depend on the weather. Rules and regulations do apply.
Enjoy the lakeside and forest views as you skate round the synthetic skating rink.

The squirrel hide is a ten minute walk from Leaplish where you can see a variety of woodland birds and sightings of the native red squirrel.
The wildlife garden comprises both a raised pond and butterfly shaped bed, bog and drought garden and nest box demonstration area. Adders, butterflies, stoats and amphibians inhabit the garden.
