Bills

We′ve made it as quick and easy as possible for you to pay your bill. In this section you can find out more about your bill and alternative ways to pay.

High consumption

When water bills are higher than normal this is usually due to a change in consumption patterns, for example if you are:

• Using a hosepipe or garden sprinkler.

• Carrying out building work or redecorating your property.

• Have problems with dripping taps or overflows.

• Have more people in the property.

• Using your washing machine more.

• Replacing your shower with a power shower.

If you feel your consumption pattern has not changed and your bill is still high it could be because:

• Your last bill was based on an estimated reading and the estimate was too low.  This means that your current bill includes some consumption from the previous bill.

• There is a longer period of time than usual between your last bill and the current one.

• You may have a leak.

To find out how to check for leaks, use our Ask us a question facility and follow our step by step guide.

Meter testing

If you have gone through all the steps above and still believe your meter is faulty, we can arrange for it to be tested and send you the results.

If the meter is faulty we will replace it and there will be no charge for the test. If the meter is not faulty, we will charge you for the test, but this will not be more than £70.00 for domestic customers.
