The following is a selection of our reservoir sites with suggested walks of varying lengths that will enable you to enjoy the outstanding landscape and hopefully see some of the wildlife.

    Bakethin Reservoir walk

    Bakethin Reservoir is an area specially set aside for wildlife and is designated as a local wildlife site. This site forms part of the Kielder Reservoir and Forest Park and is an excellent place for a walk.

    Derwent Reservoir walk

    Derwent Reservoir is one of our largest reservoirs, covering 1,000 acres on the eastern edge of the North Pennines and offering stunning views of the wide open surroundings of the upper Derwent Valley.

    Scaling Dam Reservoir walk

    Scaling Dam Reservoir is located within the North York Moors National Park. The western end of the reservoir site has been designated a nature reserve and part of this is also within the North York Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest.

    Teesdale Reservoir walk

    Teesdale Reservoir walk, starting at Balderhead Reservoir, offers an invigorating walk with stunning views of three of Northumbrian Water’s six reservoirs in Teesdale.

    Tunstall Reservoir walk

    Tunstall Reservoir is located within the North Pennines Area of Outsanding Natural Beauty and has an excellent walk along its eastern edge through ancient semi-natual broadleaved woodland.
