Educating our communities about their environment

Educating our communities about their environment

The environment is vitally important to all of us and we are committed to protecting and enhancing the natural environment. Key partnerships have been developed to help the conservation of biodiversity on our sites, to facilitate public access and to develop conservation education.

Our contribution includes funding project officers and providing expertise to the organisations.

Our current partnerships include:

Northumberland, Durham and Tees Valley Wildlife Trusts
North Pennines AONB
Tees, Tyne and Wear Rivers Trusts

A wide range of targeted educational materials are available to download for children and teachers click here.

Our Branch Out fund helps to deliver projects that benefit the natural environment and their
local communities. Branch Out aims to help our regions build resilience, and adapt to the changing climate while bringing benefits to water, wildlife and communities.

The fund is open to organisations, community groups or individuals from the public, private, voluntary and education sectors who have projects that can make a difference to the wildlife and communities in the areas in which we operate.
