19 July 2012

Kielder Water Sailing Club has gained Windsurf Recognised Training Centre accreditation from the RYA and is now a Team15 club.

Thanks to great dedication and commitment by members, the club now has a Senior Instructor and five further instructors. So members of all ages can take advantage of a full programme of RYA training, using an excellent fleet of training and intermediate boards and rigs, supported by a grant from Sport England.

Whatever people′s age or skill level, regular windsurfing sessions will improve their windsurfing ability very quickly. If they have never tried it before, they will have the basics mastered in no time. The training programme and new equipment has attracted new people into the club as well as having developed the existing membership, which promises great things for the future of windsurfing at Kielder.

Kielder Water Sailing Club regularly hosts events for NEWS (the North East division of the United Kingdom Windsurfing Association) and will hold a Team15 regatta on the August Bank Holiday.

Team15 clubs enable young people aged 15 and under to get together on a regular basis to learn new windsurfing skills and have a laugh with their mates on the water. From first time windsurfer to a relative expert, Team15 clubs welcome all levels. As well as being part of regular club sessions, Team15 gives the chance to participate in the inter-club challenges. Each club can enter the inter-club challenges with a team of up to 15 people aged 15 and under; Team15!

Kielder Water Sailing Club always welcomes new members, for windsurfing and dinghy sailing - it′s a Recognised Training Centre for sailing too. Find out more at www.kielderwatersc.org or call in and see us at Tower Knowe.
