A generous fundraising total has been unmasked by Northumbrian Water, following its annual charity ball.
More than £20,000 was raised for the firm′s charity partner, WaterAid, on Friday night by people across the North East. (Friday June 8, 2018).
The total will transform the lives of more than 1,350 people in Madagascar, helping them to access decent toilets of their own and clean water closer to home.
The masquerade-themed evening, which took place at Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel, saw more than 200 guests greeted with living statues, stilt walkers and dancers from Ignite Entertainment.
There was also a three-course meal and live music provided by Newcastle-based band, The Pretty Weeds, while a raffle, balloon sales and a silent auction helped to add to the fundraiser totals.
Northumbrian WaterAid Chairman, Andrew Blakemore, said: "Every year, we put a lot of work into ensuring our guests have a fantastic evening and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves.
"The thing that makes it all worthwhile though, is the money that we raise for WaterAid, and I′m delighted that we′re able to make such a big difference to families in Madagascar.
"We often take for granted just how valuable a sustainable supply of clean water is, but WaterAid helps to give life and better health to millions of people around the world.
"I′d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported the ball in one way or another - you are all life savers."
The event was made possible thanks to sponsorship from Northumbrian Water, Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel and Retroflo.
