Launch of luxury accommodation under England’s darkest skies

Kielder lodges

Ever dreamt spending the night soaking in a luxurious hot tub in the middle of the deepest Northumberland forest, underneath the darkest skies in England.

How about cosying up in your very own private star gazing pod with views of the silent, still and beautiful Kielder Water.

Sound like your kind of thing? Well, great news, you’re in luck.

Partnered with Hoseasons, Landal Kielder Waterside is one of only two Landal GreenParks in the country and, in response to demand at this hugely popular and award-winning holiday park, Northumbrian Water has just completed a series of improvements for guests.

Already a firm favourite with customers, the park was awarded the Hoseasons Award for Outstanding Customer Service (Diamond Award) in 2014, 2015 and 2016 and has been recognised for the high quality and huge variety of activities available to guests.

The most recent enhancements to the visitor offer includes five star premier lodges featuring swim spas, star gazing pods, BBQ huts, hot tubs, games consoles, Bluetooth speakers, underfloor heating and a deck/patio area.

Guests also benefit from such options as early check-in and late checkout, luxury toiletries, on site spa facilities and a huge range of Go Active sporting activities.

The improvements at Landal Kielder Waterside will increase the capacity for tourists to stay and experience everything that the whole of the Kielder area has to offer, and is complementary to the work in the last few years by Kielder Water and Forest Park Development Trust to grow the tourism in the area.

Over the last nine years tourism in the area has trebled with the visitor economy growing by more than £17 million in that time and the newly enhanced visitor offer at Landal Kielder Waterside is expected to be worth an additional £2 million to the local economy.

The new-look Landal Kielder Waterside will be officially opened on Wednesday, June 21, to guests, dignitaries and tourism leaders from across the county.

Heidi Mottram, Northumbrian Water’s Chief Executive Officer, said: "The unveiling of our stunning new look at Landal Kielder Waterside is a fantastic announcement for the Kielder area and a real boost for the whole of Northumberland.

“We are offering an unrivalled visitor experience and we hope it will bring people from across the country, and further afield, to Northumberland to enjoy everything that the Kielder Water & Forest Park and the whole county has to offer.

“Our aim is to make Landal Kielder Waterside the ‘Best in Britain’ and Northumberland the ‘must go’ destination for anyone wanting to enjoy the most beautiful and stunning countryside that the country has to offer.”

Councillor Cath Homer, Cabinet Member for culture, arts and leisure said: "Tourism is an important contributor to the local economy and Kielder Water is a very popular attraction within the county. The development of Landal Kielder Waterside is a fantastic addition to the visitor offering, providing a great range of facilities to help attract further tourism to the area."

Robbie Davies, Head of Development for Landal GreenParks UK, says “We are thrilled to be launching a new series of lodges at Landal Kielder Waterside, expanding the exciting holiday experience our customers can have in one of Britain’s most stunning locations.”
