drinking bottled water

15.03.2016

More than 40,000 free bottles of tap water are being given away to charitable organisations by a north east of England water company to help the local community.

Northumbrian Water’s bottled tap water scheme helps many local organisations and charities that need access to clean, clear and great tasting refreshment at their events.

It’s really important to drink plenty of water to stay healthy and hydrated. Water is a naturally healthy drink as it is calorie free and doesn’t contain the artificial additives that many sugary drinks contain. Our bottled tap water is an ideal way to stay hydrated while taking part in community events.

We have supported fun runs, triathlons, community fairs, charity bike rides, runs, walks and half-marathons, and will continue to do so for the eleventh year in-a-row.

Northumbrian Water Group has given away a massive 500,000 litres or 6,250 baths over ten years!

Sarah Pinkerton, Partnerships Manager for Northumbrian Water, said: “The donation of bottled tap water is always incredibly popular and I would encourage any organisation or charity thinking of applying to our scheme, to make sure that their application is in as soon as possible.”

“This is one of many ways that we strive to support our local communities. It is our commitment in this area that has helped us be recognised once again as one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute; the only water company in the world to be included on this prestigious list,” she said.

Each year we try to support as many events as possible in the north east with this form of charitable donation and during 2015, bottled tap water was donated to 113 organisations.

Some testimonials include...

Sara Hope Foundation based in Newcastle said: “Thank you so much for Northumbrian Water’s kind donation of bottled water, our Great North Run runners really appreciated their water along with our refreshments when they finished their gruelling run.”

Heel & Toe Children’s Charity based in Chester-Le-Street said: “I would like to say a big thank you to Northumbrian Water, for the bottled water donated to Heel & Toe to use at our Annual Charity Golf Day. We really appreciate your continued support and offering us water for our golfers.”

We are looking forward to the big giveaway in 2016, but please remember we do only have a limited supply of bottled tap water, and it will be donated on a first come first served basis providing you fulfilĀ the criteria!
