Stockton sewer upgrade

04.03.2013

A five month scheme to help prevent sewer flooding in Norton will begin next week.

Northumbrian Water has announced it is investing £875,000 to upgrade the sewerage network in the Ashton Road area.

The improvement scheme, beginning on Monday, March 11 2013, will involve installing 635 metres of sewer pipe on Ashton Road and will reduce the risk of flooding to eight properties.

Danny Coyne, Northumbrian Water’s project manager for the scheme, said: “Flooding is extremely distressing to customers and something we invest millions of pounds on every year to help reduce the risk.

“Construction traffic will need access to the area where improvement work is being carried out and to our site compound. Some temporary traffic management is necessary. Everything will be done to reduce the impact on residents and we appreciate their patience while we are working in this area.”

All traffic management dates are provisional and subject to change.
