Northumbrian Water and its employees have won a hat trick of new awards.
Claire Sharp, who previously ran the company’s customer contact centre at its Durham headquarters, was named “Inspirational Leader” at the 2012 North East Contact Centre Awards.
Claire, from Seaton Sluice, Northumberland, who now lives in Weardale, has recently been promoted to become Distribution Manager in charge of the supply of drinking water to Northumbrian Water’s 2.6 million customers in the North East from the Scottish Border down to North Yorkshire and across to the Pennines.
A project team of former colleagues of Claire’s from the customer centre won the “Dream Team” category at the same awards for their tireless and highly successful seamless transfer work when Northumbrian Water took responsibility for many private drains and sewers which doubled its sewer network in the North East to 32,000km last year.
And Northumbrian Water was also presented with a special award for Leadership at the North of England Excellence Awards.
Judges said the company demonstrated strong examples of leadership right across the business which was clearly linked to improvement in performance and the company’s vision and values towards its mission of becoming the national leader in the provision of sustainable water and waste water services.
Members of the ‘Dream Team’ are Michelle Delaney from Blaydon; Jacqui Bell, Chester le Street; Lynn Fellows, Ferryhill ; Jill Young, Coxhoe ; Julie Tait, Low Fell, Gateshead; Joanne Devlin, Stanley; Suzie Tindale, Chester le Street and Sue Harrison, Newton Hall, Durham.
