Star chef, Stuart Finn, has cooked up an appetising prize for charity.
And a team of fundraisers are to turn into live shop window mannequins to raise more cash for the good cause.
Stuart, who has previously cooked for David Beckham and Michael Jackson, will be a personal chef for one lucky auction winner and three guests. The exclusive dining experience will include a five course meal, wine and even the cutlery and crockery.
The posh nosh up for grabs is just one in a series of fundraising events organised by Northumbrian Water employees who are competing against organisations from across the region in the Evolution Corporate Challenge to raise the most cash for three north east hospices by the end of June.
Desperate to raise the bar and show what they are made of, the water company team of four is participating in a 24 hour treadmill relay and even posing as live mannequins in shop windows to scoop the winning title.
Jane Morland, corporate responsibility team leader at Northumbrian Water (NW), said: “We love a challenge and when we saw the chosen charities, some of whom we’ve supported before, we were keen to get involved. Employees across the company can get involved by donating items for raffles and ebay, bidding on clothes, dress down days and tombolas – we expect to raise in excess of £1,500.”
The NW team will be modelling clothes from Debenhams in Middlesbrough in a ‘live window’ display on Saturday 25 June. Shoppers will be able to donate, enjoy a raffle on the day and enter competitions.
Martin Barber, managing partner at Evolution LLP, the chartered accountants that have set the challenge, said: “We’re delighted to have Northumbrian Water on board. Companies, schools and colleges across the region are battling it out to come up with the most successful and unusual fundraising ideas to benefit our chosen charities”.
Hefin Roberts, sales manager from Debenhams, added: “We’re always happy to support a good cause. Real life mannequins are not something our shoppers see every day! It should be a really fun event and we’re confident our customers will dig deep and help support the hospices in the area.”
Evolution LLP gives teams £50 and the challenge is to at least double the £50 stake. There is a Challenge award of ‘Most Monies Raised’ and the Northumbrian Water team hopes to turn the starting cash into as much as they can. All funds raised are being equally distributed to: Zöe’s Place Baby Hospice in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool and District Hospice in Hartlepool and St Teresa’s Hospice in Darlington.
