A four month scheme to help prevent sewer flooding in Sunderland is set to begin.
Northumbrian Water has announced it is investing £450,000 to upgrade the sewerage network in the Hastings Hill area.
The improvement scheme, beginning on Monday, January 31 2011, will involve upsizing a total of 375 metres of sewer pipe and will reduce the risk of internal flooding to three properties on Sevenoaks Drive.
Danny Coyne, Northumbrian Water’s project manager for the scheme, said: “Flooding is extremely distressing to customers and something we invest millions of pounds on every year to help reduce risk.
“The work will take place along Goodwood Road, Sevenoaks Drive and in the car park of the Hastings Hill public house. As with all essential work, some temporary traffic management is necessary. Everything will be done to reduce impact on residents and we appreciate their patience while we are working in this area.”
All traffic management dates are provisional and subject to change.
