18.05.2009

The influenza A (H1N1) ‘swine flu’ virus is transmitted by sneezing, person to person contact, or from contaminated surfaces.

The virus will not survive in water and the disinfection processes that Northumbrian Water applies at all its water treatment works ensures destruction of the virus.

We would like to reassure all customers that the drinking water we supply is safe and carries no risk with respect to Influenza A (H1N1) ‘swine flu’.
