Kielder is Calling you

Mountain biking enthusiasts are set to enjoy some of the best singletrack trails in the UK thanks to an exciting new Enduro event in Kielder Water & Forest Park.

Kielder Calling, on Saturday 14 August, is billed as ‘Enduro on the wild side’ and will also unveil the Park’s new course giving riders the chance to savour a great outdoor playground in Northumberland.

With something to suit all abilities, riders will have the option to stay in the saddle for three , six or 12 hours, with solo and team events running throughout the day.

The Enduro course, which has been designed especially for the Kielder Calling Event, is six miles long and will incorporate some of the existing Kielder Water & Forest Park trails plus taking in some new territory.

In addition to the Enduro event there will be the chance to do ‘hot laps’ on the trails, test bike skills on the loop course, or demo bikes from Yeti, Commencal and Kona on the demo loop. Children can try their hand at The Little Wheelies obstacle course as well as having the chance to try out demo bikes.

Victoria Griffin, director of Purple Mountain bike hire centre hosting the event, commented:

‘We are excited to be part of the Kielder Calling, there is something for everyone and it promises to be an action packed and fun weekend. It’s a great opportunity to show the mountain biking facilities in Kielder Water & Forest Park.’

A biking exhibitor’s area will also be on hand where visitors can purchase the latest mountain biking clothing and equipment and for those planning to make a weekend of it, additional activities include a hog roast and ceilidh.
