The courses are professionally run and aimed at complete novices with our friendly coaches taking you through each stage step by step, teaching you everything you need to know to be able to have an enjoyable day’s fishing.
New for 2013 - in partnership with the BTFRA (British Trout Farmers Restocking Association) and in memory of the late Rob Mackie, we are proud to announce the monies provided by the memorial fund, has enabled us to reduce the cost of introducing juniors to the sport of fishing for rainbow trout from £20 to £15.
Courses cost £30 for adults and £15 for under 18s for a three hour session and all of the tackle is provided. They are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays and will alternate between multi-bait and fly. We can also offer Try it days at our other premier fisheries.
Fish free for a day with a starter pack
Once you’ve got the angling bug, our shops sell everything you need, including fishing starter packs which contain all the kit you need and our rangers will be pleased to show you how to ‘tackle up’ and select a bait. These starter kits come with a free day permit which makes it even easier and cheaper for you to begin fishing!

If you have never fished before then this is for you! This is an introduction into the sport of angling using various baits such as worm, PowerBait and spinners. This will include casting instruction, a demonstration on how to set up your tackle and the methods behind hooking, playing and landing a fish properly. All this is done whilst your bait is in the water with the expectation of catching some trout for tea!

Fly fishing lesson - starter

For anglers who wish to learn the art of fly casting using both natural and imitative patterns - then this is the method for you! You will receive casting demonstrations followed by a practical session on the grass. You will also receive an over view of various tactics used to locate, tempt and hook a fish. You will examine different flies and how they can be used in different conditions and at various times of year. This is an extremely popular fishing lesson lead by a qualified casting instructor and has built the foundations for many successful fly anglers.
