A CHRISTMAS concert organised by the Rotary Club of Morpeth has given a huge boost to victims of the town's flood disaster.
It featured the ever-popular Northumbrian Water/Ellington Colliery Band whose programme of seasonal music and brilliant virtuoso playing drew a full house at Morpeth Methodist Church at the weekend, despite dreadful weather.
Rotarian David Richardson compered the event and refreshments were provided by Morpeth Inner Wheel.
After expenses have been paid, at least £1,000 will go towards the Morpeth Flood Disaster Fund.
Rotarian Barry Swan, who organised the concert, paid tribute to all involved and especially the band.
"It was a great start to the festive season and a welcome boost to this vital fund." he said. "Rotary is grateful to everyone who helped to make the evening so successful."
