Work under way to upgrade sewer

More than £1m is being spent on a sewerage network upgrade to improve water quality for thousands of homes.
Northumbrian Water is carrying out the improvement work in Denton Dene and Sugley Dene, in Newcastle.
The work will take four months to complete and will improve water in Denton Burn and the River Tyne.
As part of the essential work, Slatyford Lane near the junction with West Road will be closed from Monday for up to four weeks.
