A calendar of nature photographs taken by Northumbrian Water employees is helping to raise money for WaterAid, the company's adopted international charity which helps the poorest people gain access to safe water.
The Northumbrian Water 2008 calendar features images taken overseas and all over the United Kingdom, including some at company sites in the north east.
The pictures were originally taken as part of Northumbrian Water's photographic competition 'wood you picture it?' designed to raise awareness of woodland biodiversity and the woodlands owned by the company.
Judges were so impressed by the high standard of entries they decided the images would be an excellent way of raising money through a calendar.
Each calendar is being sold for £2.50 and is primarily available to employees. A limited number will be available for sale at Northumbrian Water's Kielder Water site.
Helen Jacobs, senior conservation advisor, said: "The standard of photographs was really impressive.
"This project has worked out really well – it has made people aware of the importance of our woodlands and raised money for an excellent cause which will save many lives."
The calendars include an image taken at Stoneygate water treatment works near Houghton-le-Spring. The picture was taken by Eddie Parkin, 52, who is a project manager and painstakingly renovated the house and lived in it 11 years.
