Rotary Club show is all the fashion

SEVEN Berwick firms and nearly 50 local models hit the catwalk on Friday for a fashion show in the Guildhall.

Organised by Berwick Rotary Club in aid of local charities, it raised £1300 and attracted a full house.

Pauline Gregory was compere for the show which featured the excellent range of clothing provided from the local shops.Taking part were Style, Jim Graham's Menswear, Meg Maitland. Jacquie's Fancy Dress. Maureen's, Robertsons (Berwick) and EJP Design.

Entertainment was provided by the Nancy Steel dancers who were given a warm reception.

During the interval, cheques were presented y Rotary President Michael Richardson to a number of organisations.

They included Vision Aid (£500), Berwick Hospice (£700), Horncliffe Village Green (£300), Berwick Adult Learning Disability Group (£300), and Berwick Christmas Lights.

Mr Richardson explained that most of this money had been raised at the fun week-end held in conjunction with the Robson family at Horncliffe Chain Bridge. They had also sent £5000 to Water Aid in a poroject in which they are involved with Northumbria Water Authority to provide water in an African village.

The fashion show was organised by Mr John Lackenby, head of the Rotary fund-raising committee and his colleagues.

"It was a super night and we were delighted with the support we had from the people of Berwick and from the shops who took part so readily. Everything just seemed to click into place" he said.
