Tapping into quality and information

22/10/2007

A Tees Valley village is to tap into an improved water supply.

Northumbrian Water has been asked by Wimpey Homes to adopt the water pipes in Wilton Village, Middlesbrough.

The water company currently provides wastewater services to the village and will adopt the drinking water network after work to upgrade it is complete.

The improvement work, which will be funded by Wimpey Homes and is being carried out by contractors Fastflow and Kemac Services Limited, is to begin on Monday, October 29, 2007 and will take up to ten weeks to complete.

Residents are invited to find out more about the work at a customer information session to be held this week on Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Wilton Golf Club, Wilton Village between 4.00pm and 7.00pm.

Individual domestic supplies will also be upgraded along with 180 metres of water pipes.  The work will improve water quality and pressure and also safeguard the village’s water supply for future generations.

Northumbrian Water’s account manager, Richard Ellis, said:  “Customers will see an improvement in the quality of their new metered water supply.  I encourage them to drop in at the customer information session where we will answer any queries or concerns they may have.

“This improvement scheme will involve internal and external work.  Residents should be vigilant about letting people who say they are from Northumbrian Water, or contractors, into their homes.  If in any doubt, they should not let them into their home.  They should ring our customer centre to confirm the caller’s identity.”

Customers who have any special needs or queries relating to this improvement work should contact Northumbrian Water on 0845 717 1100.
