Two national legends are soon to land on more than one million doormats across the North East.
Ant and Dec, who are known for hosting game shows, appear on the front cover of Northumbrian Water’s customer magazine, Source, helping to promote the water company’s ‘Water for health’ and ‘Waterwise’ campaigns.
Cara Hall, of Northumbrian Water’s Corporate Affairs team, said: “More than one million of copies of our customer magazine will be distributed this week from Berwick down to North Yorkshire and across to the Pennines. The magazine covers a variety of interesting and informative topics.
“Source demonstrates how Northumbrian Water is involved in all aspects of North East life and is an ideal way to communicate with customers”.
The Geordie-duo will also soon present a seven-part series about the history of Newcastle and surrounding areas. Northumbrian Water are sponsoring the programme to help promote the health benefits of drinking tap water and how to use water wisely.
Northumbrian Water is immersed in the history of the North East and has invested millions of pounds over the years to improve the quality of the region’s drinking water, rivers and coastline to bring the region into the modern age with innovation and technology. The magazine will keep customers up-to-date with various projects.
A number of topics are covered in the magazine including a recent fact-finding mission to Malawi, Africa, arranged by Northumbrian Water to raise the profile of the charity WaterAid – Northumbrian Water’s adopted charity which provides clean water, sanitation and hygiene education for people in Africa and Asia.
Malawi has at least four million people that have no clean water, and seven million who access problems to adequate sanitation. Diseases like cholera are rife throughout the country and many children can’t get to school because they have to help their mothers get water from nearby rivers.
Customers will also learn more about Northumbrian Water’s H2O Gang, who will take children on an educational adventure about the world of water. The cartoon characters will help children aged between four and fourteen to understand how precious water is for life.
The very important topic of Climate Change is also covered in Source explaining how it affects many aspects of our lives. The water company is committed to managing water resources and waste water management effectively, reducing energy use and cutting down on carbon emissions.
