Northumbrian Water’s corporate affairs department has been given a community boost.
Following the recent restructuring of the department, Dorothy Tait, who was born in Berwick and now lives on Tyneside, will provide expertise as Community Relations Consultant covering Northumbrian Water’s supply area from Berwick, down to north Yorkshire across to the Pennines.
Dorothy, from Gosforth, is based at Northumbrian Water’s head office in Pity Me, Durham, and has the responsibility to generate, maintain and expand partnerships, relationships and contacts within the community while enhancing the profile of Northumbrian Water.
With the advantage of a business development background, Dorothy said: “This job is so rewarding for me. To see local communities benefiting from the projects we run, and the support we provide is extremely satisfying.
“One of the largest community projects we run is the ‘Just an Hour’ scheme which aims to develop and sustain employees’ involvement in community and environmental projects.
“Each employee is granted 12 hours every year to carry out their ‘Just an Hour’ project within working hours, which can include working with children or the elderly, planting trees, tidying recreational areas and decorating community halls. We ensure an appropriate flow of activities are on offer for everyone.”
