A water company customer can go surfing after winning more than one thousand pounds.

David Jobson, from Stockton-on-Tees, was entered into a free prize draw, along with 25,000 other Northumbrian Water customers, when he chose to pay his water and sewerage bill by direct debit.

His prize, five years free water which amounts to £1408.50, will fund a new computer for David and his wife, Margaret.  Keen travellers, they will now be able to surf the internet to choose the destinations they visit.

An astounded David said:  “It was great to receive the call telling us we had won – I am not usually a very lucky person!

“I chose to pay my water bill by direct debit because it is easy and hassle-free – one less thing to think about every month.”
