We are proud to provide a sustainable, affordable, clean and safe water supply and to manage and treat the waste water returned to us in a way that protects the environment.
Severe flooding in recent years, and the effect of climate change, has prompted the
Met Office, Northumbrian Water and the Environment Agency to propose the installation of a new weather radar in the North East - one of the missing links in national radar coverage.
At present the closest radar to the North East is in Lancashire resulting in poor weather radar coverage in parts of North Yorkshire, County Durham and Northumberland.
The proposed radar will be developed and funded by the three organisations with the Met Office providing technical and operational support.
