When water bills are higher than normal this is usually due to a change in consumption patterns. Any of the following situations would result in an increase in your usage:
• Extra use of a hosepipe.
• Carrying out building work or renovating property.
• Dripping taps or overflow problems.
• Autoflush sanitary devices set at too high a rate of flushes per hour.
If you feel your consumption pattern has not changed and your bill is still high it could be because:
• your last bill was based on an estimated reading and the estimate was too low. This means that your current bill includes some consumption from the previous bill.
• There is a longer period of time than usual between your last bill and the current one.
• You may have a leak.
