Waste minimisation

Waste produced by companies, is not simply materials alone, it represents a loss of valuable company assets. The true cost of waste includes time, effort and materials to produce that waste, plus the actual costs of disposal. Waste minimisation is about the prevention or reduction of waste at source.

It is estimated that waste can cost a company between 4-10% of their turnover. By investigating your own processes and activities valuable costs and benefits to your business and the environment can be achieved. Waste minimisation can also provide competitive advantage to your business through cost savings, compliance, risk reduction and market positioning.

Following on from our series of successful seminars on the Landfill Directive and IPPC Regulations, Northumbrian Water hosted a seminar to provide further awareness and understanding of waste minimisation, and the benefits available to you and your company.
