Carrshield village

All properties within Carrshield village supplied with drinking water by Northumbrian Water are being asked to boil their water before use.  We would like to apologise for the inconvenience you are experiencing and take this opportunity to clarify the current situation.

Following poor weather on Saturday 5 October and its impact upon the spring source that supplies the treatment plant, we have detected unsatisfactory results taken from water samples within the village. All water samples taken for the outlet of our treatment works have proved to be satisfactory. 

Due to this apparent inconsistency, we have now started to investigate potential sources for water ingress into our network. Our employees will be working within the village and will be carefully considering all connections to our water network.  It is likely that we will be inspecting the majority of properties within the village in an attempt to trace the source of the unsatisfactory sample results.

We would like to thank you for your patience and also ask that if you are able to provide any information about any recent unusual events connected to your water supply that you please let us know.

When we are happy that the water has returned to the usual excellent quality we will issue a safe to use notice.  Until you receive this notice, please continue to boil your water for all purposes detailed on the card you received on Tuesday 7 October.
