Unmetered charges

Understanding your bill as a domestic unmetered customer

97p a day or £355 for the year starting 1st April 2011 is the average bill for domestic customers not on a meter. This covers the cost of supplying your clean water and the removal and treatment of your wastewater. And, if you pay by direct debit directly to us, this amount is reduced by up to £6.00.

Household charges
(for the period 1 April 2011 – 31 March 2012)

Your water and sewerage services bills are in two parts:

• a fixed charge
• a charge based on the rateable value (RV) of your property

For water you pay:

• a fixed charge of £87.50
• a charge of 52.41p per £ of rateable value

For sewerage you pay:

• a fixed charge of £113.40
• a charge of 55.41p per £ of rateable value

Sewerage charges cover the removal, treatment and disposal of foul (used) water and surface water (rainwater) from your property and a highway drainage charge.

If no surface water from your property drains to our sewer and you already pay sewerage charges then you may be entitled to claim an allowance of £42.40 for 2011/12.  If you believe you are eligible to apply for an allowance, you can download an application form below.

Are you paying too much?

Find out more about switching to a meter and how you could cut the cost of your water bill.

There are government regulations to protect you if you or someone in your household receives certain benefits or tax credits and live in a property with a water meter.  To qualify for WaterSure, you must also have three or more children up to 19 years old in full-time education who live with you, or someone in your household who has a medical condition which means they use a lot of water. If this applies to you, you do not have to pay more than the average household bill - you could save money.
