Learn to fish - 'Try it days'

Do you want to fish but don't know how to begin?

Not only is fishing an excellent sport but also makes a fantastic hobby.  We therefore offer acclaimed try it days to make it easier for newcomers to get into this superb sport.

Now in its seventh successful year our ever popular 'Try it day' angling tuition courses go from strength to strength.

Our courses are professionally run and aimed at complete novices with our friendly coaches taking you through each stage step by step, teaching you everything you need to know to be able to have an enjoyable day’s fishing.  All of the tackle you will need for the course is provided so all you need to do is come appropriately dressed for the weather.  Courses cost £25 for adults and £20 for under 17s for a three hour session.

Courses are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays commencing Saturday 3 April and will alternate between multi-bait and fly.

New for 2010 – On the last Saturday of every month we will also be offering an advanced course for fly anglers which will concentrate on improving anglers’ casting skills.  These courses last for four hours and cost just £30.00 and will particularly benefit those who have previously been on the beginner’s day.

For more information and to book a Try it day call the Derwent visitor centre on 01207 255 250.

Once you’ve got the angling bug you’ll probably want your own equipment; our shops sell everything you will need, including fishing starter packs which contain all the kit you will need and our rangers will be pleased to show you how to ‘tackle up’ and select a bait. These starter kits come with a free day permit which makes it even easier and cheaper for you to begin fishing!
