Within the Teesside area of supply there is an alternative grade of water which is partially treated. This water is only available to large industrial customers and by agreement.
This charge is in two parts:
Sewerage services charge
In 2005/2006 we initiated an important change in the way in which metered non-domestic customers are charged for surface and highway drainage services. These types of customers will move progressively from charges based on rateable value to charges based on surface area, and this will be complete by 31st March 2008.
Charges are in several parts:
Sewerage charges cover the removal, treatment and disposal of foul (used) water and surface water (rainwater) from your property and a highway drainage charge.
For some agricultural, recreational, industrial and commercial uses where large amounts of water are not returned to the sewers, we may make a special allowance. Please contact us if you think you qualify.
Commercial properties that did not receive sewerage charges prior to 1st April 2005, and any properties that have been split into parts or merged with others since then will be billed for surface area and highway drainage based on their chargeable area. The chargeable area will be allocated to one of fifteen charging bands and a fixed charge will apply. To find out more information you can link to surface water drainage charges.
Some commercial and industrial businesses produce wastewater which is also known as trade effluent. If this effluent is discharged to sewer you are required to apply for a trade effluent consent.
Trade effluent charges are calculated by using the Mogden formula.
C = R + V + Bv + Ot. B + St. S
Os Ss
Where:
| C = | Total Charge per cubic metre |
|---|---|
| R = | Reception and conveyance |
| V = | Volumetric treatment |
| Bv = | Volumetric charge for biological treatment |
| B = | Biological treatment charge |
| S = | Sludge treatment and disposal charge |
| Ot = | Chemical Oxygen Demand (settled COD) in mg/l |
| Os = | Regional weighted average COD = 355mg/l |
| St = | Total suspended solids (settled) in mg/l |
| Ss = | Regional weighted average suspended solids = 175mg/l |
Trade effluent charges for the period 1 April 2008- 31 March 2009 are detailed in the table below:
| Pence per cubic metre | |
|---|---|
| R | 27.29p |
| B | 10.32p |
| V | 13.37p |
| Bv | 7.42p |
| S | 9.55p |
Trade effluent charges are subject to a minimum charge of £336.00 per annum which is applied at 92.05p per day. To calculate an estimate for your trade effluent charges click on the link to take you to the Trade Effluent Charges Calculator.
