Social housing

Council tenants and housing associations

Northumbrian Water bill some local authority and housing association tenants direct for their water and sewerage charges.

We offer a range of payment methods so that you can choose the payment option most suitable for you.  Further details can be found in the ‘Ways to pay’ section of the website.

If you currently receive an account from us and are in arrears with your water service charges and receive Income Support, income based Jobseekers Allowance or Pension Credit, we can apply to the Department for Work and Pensions to take a regular amount from your benefit and pay it directly to us.  If you would like this method, we can make an application on your behalf by clicking on the ‘Water Direct’ link and completing the application form.

You may be eligible to have a water meter fitted at your property.  The installation of a water meter can reduce water usage and may save you money.  Click on ‘Meter option’ to find out more about the benefits of a water meter and to apply for a survey to be carried out.

If you are moving home you can notify us online about your move into, within, or out of the Northumbrian Water supply area.  Please click on the link below ‘Moving house’ to register your change of address and we will update your account.

Should you wish to discuss your account or have any queries please contact our trained team of customer advisors on 0845 733 5566 and they will be happy to help you.

Our charges represent excellent value for money and are amongst the lowest in the country.
