Northumbrian Water Scientific Services

Who we are

Northumbrian Water Scientific Services (NWSS) formerly AES has been established since 1991 and is one of the UK's leading environmental services providers.  NWSS (a trading division of Northumbrian Water Limited) has a strong reputation for delivering high quality scientific services to all its customers.

We currently employ over 250 people including laboratory professionals, scientists, environmental consultants, noise consultants, and legionella control consultants.  Many of our staff have been with the organisation since 1991, and have helped with the growth and development of the business.  We are particularly proud of our staff retention, and feel that this is one of the reasons why we provide such a good service - our staff know our business.  Additionally, when clients contact us, they regularly communicate with the same staff, which most people find very reassuring.

What we do

Our laboratory analysis and environmental assessment services cover a wide range of public, private and regulated sectors.  We provide national coverage from three extensively equipped UKAS accredited laboratories, producing accurate and reliable results using the latest analytical equipment and best practice techniques.

With regional offices throughout the UK and Ireland, our wide range of services includes the sampling and analysis of waters and air emissions, soils analysis, stack emissions monitoring, legionella control, acoustics, vibration and air quality monitoring.
