67p a day or £243 for the year starting 1st April 2008 is the average bill for domestic customers on a meter. This covers the cost of supplying your clean water and the removal and treatment of your wastewater. If you pay by direct debit directly to us, this amount is reduced by up to £6.00.
Household charges
Your metered water and sewerage services bills are in two parts:
For water you pay:
For sewerage you pay:
Sewerage charges cover the removal, treatment and disposal of foul (used) water and surface water (rainwater) from your property and a highway drainage charge.
If no surface water from your property drains to our sewer and you already pay sewerage charges then you may be entitled to claim for an allowance of £36.60 for 2008/09. If you believe you are eligible to apply for an allowance, you can download an application form. Alternatively, you can contact our Customer Centre on 0845 733 5566.
You can find out more information about metered charges by downloading a copy of our leaflet.
You can download a copy of our Charges Scheme, or call our Customer Centre on 0845 733 5566 to request a copy.
There are Government regulations to protect you if you receive certain benefits or tax credits and live in a property with a water meter. You must also have either three or more children up to 19 years old in full time education who live with you or someone in your household who has a medical condition which means they use a lot of water.
If this applies to you, you do not have to pay more than the average household bill. Please call our Customer Centre on 0845 733 5566 and ask for details. Find out if you are eligible and would benefit from our WaterSure scheme (formerly known as the Protect Scheme).
