Important information about improvements to your water supply

Northumbrian Water is committed to ensuring the drinking water we supply to our customers is of excellent quality.  As part of this commitment our contractors, Fastflow, will be carrying out improvement work to water mains in the Beacon Lough area, Gateshead.  This improvement work will reduce leakage and safeguard water supplies for future generations.  It will begin on Monday 12 February 2007 with the vast majority of the work complete within eight months.

Customers are invited to find out more about our work and raise any questions or concerns at a drop-in customer information session we are holding on Tuesday 13 February 2007 at Lyndhurst Centre, Beacon Lough Road, Gateshead, from 2.00pm to 7.00pm.

It is inevitable that while this improvement work is carried out some noise and disruption will occur.  We will be working in the public highway and traffic access in some streets may be affected.  We will make every effort, through careful planning, to minimise any inconvenience to you.

To ensure water quality is maintained to a high standard we are required to take water quality samples from a very small selection of properties.  These samples will only be taken by employees from Northumbrian Water who will be wearing a Northumbrian Water uniform.  They will be carrying official identity cards which we strongly advise you to check before letting anyone into your home.  If you have any doubts please contact our Customer Centre on 0845 717 1100.  Genuine Northumbrian Water employees will be happy for you to carry out this security check.
