Northumbrian Water has donated £250 from its charitable fund at the Community Foundation serving Tyne & Wear and Northumberland to the John Boste Youth Centre in Walker. The Youth Centre has used the grant to buy a new table tennis table.
The popular Youth Centre, linked to St Anthony of Padua Community Association, runs activities for 150 young people four nights a week. During the winter months it is keen to promote indoor sporting activities for the young people and was delighted with the grant from Northumbrian Water for the table tennis table.
Dorothy Tait, Community Relations Manager at Northumbrian Water, visited the Youth Centre: “Northumbrian Water not only provides essential services to customers but is also immersed in community life in the areas it serves. We are also keen to promote exercise and keeping hydrated as part of a healthy lifestyle to young people and are pleased to be able to contribute to the activities at the Youth Centre in Walker. We hope they play and enjoy many table tennis matches.”
