Highlights for 2008

New for 2008
This season we will be spending a whopping £500,000 on stocking our fisheries with over 165,000 prime rainbow trout, 50,000 of which will be reared on our own fish farms.  Minimum stock size will be 1lb 6oz and there will be a range of fish up to 20lbs.  To download a copy of our 2008 fishing guide click here.

Back by popular demand - the popular 12 fish family and 12 fish two rod permits which we introduced last year will again be available this year and the good news is that their prices have not increased and will remain at £25 each which represents tremendous value.

Premier fly only water - after two years as a coarse fishery, Hury reservoir, located in Baldersdale, Teesdale will revert back to being our premier fly only water and will be exclusively stocked with fish from our Teesdale fish farm.

Western lake - from 1 April at Whittle Dene we will be adding the Western lake to our choice of coarse lakes, making four in all.  We would like to hear from coarse anglers their views on what type of coarse fishing the Western lake is suited to.

Learn to fish - new anglers can take advantage of our three hour 'taster sessions' held at Derwent regularly throughout the season.  These sessions are run in partnership with the Environment Agency with fully licensed, certified and qualified instructors. There are sessions for both fly and bait beginners, tackle is provided and you will learn everything you need to know to get you hooked on angling!

Starter packs for beginners - as an added incentive to get you started, buy a fishing starter pack from one of the fishery shops, (open from 8am) and receive a free day fishing permit worth £20.

Book a break in a luxury lodge at Kielder Water & Forest Park and anglers can fish the bank for free!

Free fishing - our customer loyalty scheme “the magnificent seven” - rewards anglers who collect seven day permits or boat permits with a free permit.

In a spin - all artificial lures will continue to be permitted across all of our multi-bait fisheries. This is a great active way of fishing especially for children. It can be a great sport too especially on American style, ultra light outfits and small 5g lures.

On the coarse scene - at Whittle Dene the stocked skimmer bronze bream are growing well. The lower is continuing to develop into a prime pleasure and match venue. During the season you can expect to catch twenty pound plus nets of prime coarse fish including Roach, Perch Skimmers, Dace and Gudgeon.
