Here in the North East we take clean, quality water straight from the tap for granted. But imagine a world without taps or toilets. Where would you get your water? Where would you go to the toilet? Such a world without taps and toilets is a reality for billions of people in the developing world.• 1.1 billion people don’t have access to clean, safe water
• 2.6 billion people don’t have anywhere safe and hygienic to go to the toilet
• 5,000 children die every day from water-related diseases, making the lack of safe water the second largest killer of children under five
You can help change this!
Starting on World Water Day, Saturday 22 March 2008 Northumbrian Water is promoting Drink tap - save lives! throughout the North East, to raise vital funds for our adopted charity, WaterAid (Registered Charity Number 288701).
We are inviting restaurants, cafes and bars to participate in this initiative by encouraging customers who request tap water to make a donation to WaterAid. Individual donations may be small, but together they will make a HUGE difference. 100% of donations raised will go to WaterAid.
