Asset management policy

Northumbrian Water manages its assets responsibly by achieving the right balance between performance, risk and cost.  The process that governs our asset planning and management covers all aspects of its regulated and non-regulated business from monitoring and setting serviceability targets to delivering best value service to all customers.

Our long-term objective is to ensure that our asset planning and management process, when fully implemented, is in alignment with industry best practises in asset management and also lends itself to scrutiny and evaluation by independent parties and regulators.

• Demonstrate best practice in asset management.

• Develop our people’s expertise in asset management skills.

• Continue to collect and manage pertinent data in corporate systems.

• Implement management strategies that achieve the right balance between operational, maintenance and capital investment activities to meet the Company’s objectives.

• Maintain a source to tap approach to the management of assets by the implementation of system planning

Asset management KPIs

• Develop reports on serviceability and asset performance.

• Deliver training to develop staff skills in asset management.

• Adopt the principles of the Capital Maintenance Planning Common Framework.

• Review performance of the asset planning process through high-level audit.

• Deliver a programme of system planning reviews.
