Northumbrian Water is delighted to be supporting Century FM’s Bring a Pound to Work Day which officially takes place on Thursday March 6, 2008.
All money raised will be split between three nominated charities - Macmillan Cancer Support Tyneside, Zoe’s Place Hospice in Middlesbrough and the Wear 1 Fund. Northumbrian Water is a partner in the Wear 1 Fund, which provides financial support to deserving community causes in Sunderland.
Giving something back to the communities we serve is very important to us. Not only do we provide essential water and wastewater services, we’re also immersed in community life around the region, whether it is through ‘Just an Hour’, our employee volunteering programme, or charity fundraisers such as Bring a Pound to Work Day.
Century FM Big Breakfast Show presenters Scott and Ben visited Northumbrian Water’s Head Office at Pity Me on Monday March 3, 2008 to witness Mike Rewcastle, Northumbrian Water’s Technical Strategy Manager, pedalling for pounds on a bicycle with a real toilet and cistern attached to it as the seat!
A number of additional fundraising activities also took place, including a Crème Egg eating race and a chest and leg wax!
